(Louisville, KY – Friday, January 13, 2012) The Sam Swope Auto Group today announces the retirement of its Founder and Chairman of the Board, Mr. Sam Swope, effective today.
Swope is departing the company he founded after a distinguished and successful career spanning six decades, a careerbased on his personal dream for the creation of an organization grounded in ethics and fair business practices, dedicated to both the consumer and the community. During his leadership, the company has grown from a single dealership founded in Elizabethtown in January 1952 to become the premier auto group in Kentucky it is today with a total of 24 dealerships throughout the Commonwealth, a thriving organization that employs over 1000 associates.
“I am stepping down now from the helm of the company because the time has come to hand over the reins to a new generation,” states Swope. “My departure comes with a tremendous sense of satisfaction, accomplishment and especially, appreciation. Appreciation and thanks for my wonderful family that has been with me the entire time to nurture and build the business. Appreciation and thanks for the legions of dedicated associates who have been so integral to our success. The company also announces that Executive Vice President for Business DevelopmentPatricia “Patti” Swope will become Chairman of the Board with Richard S. “Dick” Swope serving as President & CEO.
